Course Overview

Coaching allows people to reach their full potential by enhancing underutilized creativity, innovation, and motivation. Coaching skills enable individuals to effectively promote goal setting, listening, and visioning both in their workplace and personal settings. Coaching skills will help you manage your clients and customers successfully. Florida International University’s (FIU) Coaching Skills Program will equip you with the skills you need to help people from all walks of life meet today’s challenges.

Format

FIU’s Coaching Skills Program recognizes your need for convenience, as well as the advantages of face-to-face, student-teacher interaction. FIU’s curriculum effectively couples face-to-face Saturday meetings with teleconferencing to deliver content. Students receive the highest quality training coupled with the added value of face-to-face instruction delivered via low student/teacher ratio.

Class Schedule

Designed to accommodate busy schedules the Coaching Skills Program provides a weekly “conference call” format, as well as a limited number of convenient face-to-face meetings, all of which are conducted by your certified coach instructors. The program, consists of 60 hours of coaching competencies and takes place over an eight-month period. Upon successful completion participants will receive an FIU certificate of CEUs. Successful completion requires a minimum of 80% attendance. (See Frequently Asked Questions section for more specific information about attendance requirements.)

Drazia Rubenstein, MCC, Faculty Team Leader

Drazia Rubenstein has been coaching for more than 16 years assisting high performers to maximize their results while minimizing their efforts. She has had extensive training as a coach and is a graduate of Coach U. The International Coach Federation (ICF) has awarded her the Master Certified Coach (MCC) designation. Ms. Rubenstein is also a Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst (CPBA) as well as a Certified Professional Values Analyst (CPVA). Very active professionally, she is the chair of the Independent Review Board of the ICF, past co-chair of the ICF Ethics and Standards Committee and is a past president of the ICF Miami Area Chapter.

A seasoned business leader and professional, Ken Abrams brings 20 years of experience to the table as a corporate buyer, sales manager, entrepreneur, and consultant. Mr. Abrams transitioned to business and personal coaching in 1997. His understanding of professional people's needs was developed through many years of working within the retail and corporate market. He works with clients to move forward with their goals, strategies and personal/business vision. Mr. Abrams has a Master Certified Coach (MCC) designation from the International Coach Federation (ICF), is a senior trainer at CoachU, and is the CEO of TopCOACH International.

   
Susan Klein, MCC

Susan Klein, MCC

Susan Klein was part of the team that developed Coach U and sat as a member of the advisory board for four years. A graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh and Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ms. Klein has received three coaching certifications from Coach U. and the Master Certified Coach (MCC) designation from International Coach Federation. She develops and conducts a cadre of courses and trainings for managers and executives. She is the author of a booklet titled Simple Tips for the Over-Committed, Over-Scheduled Person. Ms. Klein coaches corporate executives, managers and business owners in leadership, communication skills, cultural transformation and fulfillment of quantum leap goals.

   
Barbara Luther, MCC

Barbara Luther, MCC

With a B.A. and M.A. in English, Barbara Luther also has more than 500 hours of coach training from Coach U, Corporate Coach U and many other courses. As a teleclass leader Ms. Luther has been training coaches since 1997. She was awarded her Master Certified Coach (MCC) designation by the International Coach Federation (ICF). An active ICF member she served as an ICF 2006 annual conference co-chair, currently serves on the Research & Education Committee, and is a certification evaluator. She is the author of numerous articles, The Heartful Business Plan, and is the co-author of a year-long coach training curriculum for the ADD Coach Academy. Ms. Luther specializes in coaching individuals who are highly creative, who start more than they finish, and who need focus.

Karen E. Whitworth MCC

As one of the pioneers in the coaching profession, Ms. Whitworth is widely recognized as a dynamic visionary. She was one of the team of individuals that developed Coach, Inc. A few of the coaching designations Ms. Whitworth currently holds include the Master Certified Coach (MCC) designation from The International Coach Federation (ICF), ADD/ADDHD Credentialed Coach, HeartMath Credentialed Coach, and GKLifeStyle Credentialed Coach. For over 16 years Ms. Whitworth has been supporting corporations, companies and individuals in creating inventive options for professional and personal goals.

   
Jerry Wistrom, PCC

Jerry Wistrom, PCC

Jerry Wistrom is a Business and Personal Coach, speaker, author and business owner. His professional career spans the past 28 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Connecticut. He is a faculty member of Coach U, where he trains professional coaches worldwide. Mr. Wistrom has been awarded the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) designation by the International Coach Federation (ICF). As an active member of the ICF, he serves on the International Membership Committee and as a director of the ICF Connecticut Chapter. Over the past 11 years, Mr. Wistrom has coached small business owners, entrepreneurs, and sales professionals in many different industries on developing and building their businesses.
